Call me Blue

Lately I’ve had an urge to draw Blade’s siblings more. Maybe next I’ll draw all three.~

This is a scene/idea I’ve been debating on actually. Someone a long time ago commented that Bluebreeze’s nickname should be Blue, but I’ve always kept it as Breezy/Breeze because it suits her personality more (rather then being called “Blue” because she has blue eyes). However over the course of the story Breeze’s personality completely flips from being a friendly, happy-go-lucky extrovert to a quiet, non-committal introvert, and lately I’ve been thinking that a scene like above would really suit her and her personality better at that point. I also think that “Blue” would be a more grownup name then “Breezy” which maybe as a youngster she might not mind introducing herself as, but as an adult might fell a bit odd (although, I think Blade would continue to call her that). On the other hand, I’m not really sure that I like the idea of calling her Blue because everyone’s got a character named that (and this litter already has Blade and Bane for ultra common names…). And a lot of people are going to think Wolf’s Rain and ‘oh, the girl with the blue eyes is called Blue, how so very original’. So I don’t know. =/

I’m also debating the doubled barrelled name thing. In many ways it fits because both their parents have double barrelled names (Moonbeam and Nightbark) so you could argue that that’s the sort of name they give each other. On the other hand, I hate the idea of Blade’s full name being Grassblade, even if it’s never used under any circumstances. The reason I used that name actually was because of the double meaning (his species names things after natural things, but coincidentally this one translates into human as something different, but still ‘cool’ sounding). Having that as his full name would make that double meaning clearer… but ugh, can someone think of something a little better? Bane similarly, although I don’t mind “Willowbane” so much other then is sounds a bit girly. The other possibility I’ve thought of for his name is Wolfsbane, which is fine, except that I try to distance these guys from the word ‘wolf’ as much as possible.

Anyway, if anyone’s got some thoughts or suggestions on that I’d be happy to hear them.
